Spooktacular Halloween Activities at Rossford Bass Pro Shops

Halloween is a night full of superstitions, ghosts and celebrations. The holiday rooted in Samhain, an ancient harvest festival which was held at the end of the Celtic year. The festival took place because of the end of summer and the beginning of the long, dark winter. People believed this time was when the spirits of the dead returned to damage crops and haunt the living. The people also believed this was a time when Celtic Priests could make predictions about the future. They would host large bonfire celebrations, wear animal skins and make sacrifices to the spirits.

Halloween has since grown into scary movies marathons, haunted houseshaunted cornfields, Halloweekends at Cedar Point,  trick-or-treating, costumes, bonfires, Jack-O-Lanterns, ghost stories and times with friends. Growing up, I remember watching the 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family. Then making plans with my friends to go Trick-Or-Treating through little Graytown. We would get scared going up to the decorated houses, knowing something or someone was going to pop out and scare us, but that made the candy we received so much sweeter. One of our parents would drive us through the country where we could get handfuls of candy from the old farm houses. Nights like that are the nights we will always hold onto.

No matter what age, everyone can enjoy Halloween. It is the one night out of the year that you can be anything you have ever wanted to be. That is why here at Bass Pro Shops, we want to make sure you all get the same experience and lasting memories that we did. Our event has kicked off on the Rossford Bass Pro Shops Facebook Page with a cutest costume photo contest! You can post a family friendly photo of either yourself or your kids. The photo contest will run until midnight of October 30th. Whoever receives the most likes will get a Halloween Prize Package and will be featured on our Halloween post on October 31st.
