Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! This week has been pretty good with a decent bite of Dolphin offshore and some Tunas on the hump. The best of the Dolphin was on weed and debris, with a handful of nicer tunas on the humps and around the deeper wrecks off the edge of the reef. There were a few current edges that were producing as well with a few Sails mixed in. We are really in need of a cool front to make its way down here, but we haven’t been lucky enough yet for that to happen. Once we get one we should start seeing more fish push into our area. There appears to be decent bunch of fish above us, but until this water cools off a bit, I think it will just be a pick. The reef is producing plenty of Yellowtails, and Mangroves, and the wrecks have been good with Kings, Mutton’s and Groupers. A few Wahoo were caught this week as well with the calmer winds, and the divers are already reporting them on the wrecks, so we are getting there, just a slow start. Plenty of fish around to make for a great day of fishing, but winter time fishing for our area is not in full swing just yet. We are starting to see more fish move into the patches anticipating the shrimp run, so everything is in line for winter except for the water temperatures. We will just have to be patient, and it will all come together…it always does! The Swordfish ledge this past week wasn’t nearly as productive as we had hoped coming off the moon. I don’t know anyone who caught a keeper size fish, but there were only a few of us that were hooked up at all. We did have a “big” bite that only lasted a short while before pulling the hook, and then we pulled another one off just below that boat that was estimated in the 20 pound range. One other boat caught one about the same size and made the release, but there really wasn’t much to it. The winds have kicked up again as the end of the week is here, but are forecast to come down to 10 to 15 knots over the weekend, so that will make things much nicer. I would look for the same report for the weekend, as there isn’t much of a reason for it to change. There is still plenty of bait around, and all the ingredients are there to make for some good fishing, so just enjoy this extended summer because I am sure it won’t be here for much longer!
