We’ve been blessed with a great deal of unseasonable warm weather this fall. We’ve had a taste of cold, but more is to come. Iowa is on track for a typical winter. We know the piercing cold northwest winds that come with January and February.
We think all children should be warm during Iowa’s winters. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case, even in our own community.
So, Bass Pro Shops Altoona is sponsoring the Second Annual Warm Kids Campaign to collect new winter hats, gloves/mittens, socks, and boots for the Southeast Polk Community School District. Now through December 18, 2015, customers may bring NEW articles for donation, for ages 4 through 12, to Bass Pro Shops Altoona.
All donated items will be distributed within the Southeast Polk School District, via the school counselors, to students as needed. They may also be used in the various school’s Christmas Wish List program for families.
Altoona Elementary School Counselor Jane Kayser says last year’s very successful drive was a huge hit with the kids!
“The kids loved and wore EVERY bit that you collected! The hats, gloves, and warm socks never go unused and the boots were all put on feet the minute they were picked up.”
Remember, when you lost your mittens or hat at school,
or just simply liked to be warm when you were a child?
This is your chance to help the children of today. Buy them anywhere or buy them here.
But, please, buy them and donate.
Warm hands, warm heads, warm feet, warm children.
