Offshore Fishing Report World Wide Sportsman, Islamorada, Florida

Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report!  The weather this week was decent early in the week despite some rain, but looks to be blowing pretty good for the rest of the week and the weekend.  The fishing this week remains the same with a few shots each day on the Sails, and plenty of Kings and other critters filling in.  We have been kite fishing mostly this week, and haven’t spent much time on the reef but maybe an hour or two.  The Yellowtails have been biting, but definitely best on the incoming tide with the warmer offshore waters moving across the reef.  The current has been going all directions this week, so there hasn’t been much consistency with the weather or the conditions.  The patches remain strong with a good bite of Mutton Snappers, Hogfish, Mangrove Snappers, Yellowtails, Porgies, and Cero Mackerel.  This fishery is probably the most consistent fishery we have right now, but all of the usual winter critters are available if you have the time to put into trying to catch them.  We have another front coming in this weekend, so we are looking forward to a new batch of fish moving into our area.  Bait has been decent this week as well with a good school of Pilchards up around Conch Reef, and Cigars, Ballyhoo, a few Sardines, and Blue Runners around the shallow bait patches.  All in all we are hanging in there, and keep making it happen.  This weather seems to have the majority of the fish offshore pretty rattled, as their isn’t much rhyme or reason to how they are acting, so I suppose it is due to the ever changing weather conditions.  It is still pretty good fishing though, so we will take it!

Well, that is it for this week! Remember, if you need a charter please feel free to stop by World Wide Sportsman’s Bayside Marina and check us out, as I will be glad to help you out with whatever you need.
