Offshore Fishing Report World Wide Sportsman, Islamorada, Florida

Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report!  What a week we have had with the wind blowing, as it was feeling like it was never going to stop.  We have fished every day since last Thursday, and it has been a beating at best.  Thankfully, the winds are coming down and it looks like the weekend is going to shape up nicely!  The fishing this past week has been good, with some Sails, Groupers, Mutton Snappers, Yellowtail Snappers, African Pompano, Amberjacks, Bonita, Sharks, and several other species coming over the rail.  The offshore bite has been slow for the few who have ventured out as there isn’t much weed to hold the Dolphin, and the Blackfin Tunas are starting to move around off of the humps.  No one has made it out to the Swordfish ledge this past week as this should have been some of the best Swordfishing we would have seen all year.  The weather made for unsafe conditions, so it was a definite “no go” on the Sword ledge.  We are heading out there tomorrow barring the weather holds up, so I will report next week on how this turns out, or check out my “Catchalottafish Charters” Facebook page for updates on this trip.  We have been mostly Sailfishing this past week as well as Wreck fishing, and it has been pretty good all around.  The Groupers and Mutton Snapper fishing has been good, and we have managed to catch some Sails as well as Kings and other species so the fishing at least has been fun despite the winds.  The reef bite this week was pretty good for the guys who moved around and found the right current conditions.  It appeared that the North side of Islamorada had current going up the road, while to the South it was going West.  We didn’t participate in anchoring down, but the majority of my reports were decent.  Look for the weekend to be a completely different with the winds subsiding and the ocean really coming alive.  I think the fish are going to go nuts with things calming down and this huge moon subsiding.  Should be a great weekend all around!    There has been tons of bait everywhere with plenty of Ballyhoo, Cigar Minnows, Sardines, and Blue Runners on the patches, as well as Pilchards on the beach.  There is no excuse for not catching bait, as it is everywhere!

Well, that is it for this week! Remember, if you need a charter please feel free to stop by World Wide Sportsman’s Bayside Marina and check us out, as I will be glad to help you out with whatever you need.
