Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! With the remains of the named thunderstorm (Erika) we had last weekend still creeping around in the form of dirty water and excessive current, the fishing this week has been pretty darn good. The week started off on the reef with the Yellowtail Snapper bite out of control, in addition to some nice Mangroves off the bottom. The Groupers were biting, but the sharks were faster so we decided to put the Grouper rod away and stick to the Snappers. The storm really dirtied up the water and has the current smoking up the road, so the conditions are pretty much perfect. I don’t think the water will clean up too much by the weekend, at least not enough to make it gin clear, so all should be good on the reef. The offshore fishing today was insane, just as we left it before the storm! The weeds are stacked up at 25-28 miles, with some nice patches already having come together and are loaded up with big schoolies, gaffers, and a few slammers. These guys were eating the live bait much better than the dead, but we did catch some on dead bait nonetheless. I am sure as this moon gets darker they will eat the dead stuff just find. There is plenty of bait on the weeds though, so no excuse not to have any. This type of fishing is only going to get better over the next couple/ few weeks, so enjoy it while it last. There has been a ton of bait on the weeds as well, so getting some nice hook baits should be a breeze. The humps produced nicely during the AM hours this week with some nice Blackfin Tunas up to 10 pounds all on the feathers. There haven’t been any Pilchards around this week, at least not as of the time I wrote this, but if it slicks off they will come back from the deep. Nothing to report from the wrecks this week, but I am sure they haven’t changed from last week and will have a nice variety on them. I haven’t heard of anyone Swordfishing either, but stay tuned for next week’s report as we have another trip on Saturday!
