Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! The offshore fishing this week has been excellent as the Swordfishing and Dolphin fishing has been incredible! The Sword ledge has been producing, and I mean some whoppers! Fish up to 412 pounds were caught this week between Marathon and Key Largo, with several boats catching a 3 fish limit. Some great fishing, and amazing table fare. In addition to the Swordfishing, the Dolphin bite has been excellent with pretty much all you could want or need. There’s a lot going on out there, and it all seems to be in our favor just the way we like it! The weather for the weekend is forecast at 10 to 15 knots out of the east, so even better because the conditions are favorable for the fishing to stay really good!
The humps are getting better each day as large schools of Blackfin Tuna continue to move onto the local sea mounts. The Amberjack population seems to be dwindling, as the shark population appears to grow, but that is pretty normal for this time of year. Lots of Barracudas are living in these areas as well as Bonita and Skipjacks. The largest of the Tunas are still on the Marathon Hump, but there are a few larger schools on each one.
The reef and wrecks remain consistent, and really infested with sharks. The usual Snappers, Groupers, Jacks, Bonita, and Cero Mackeral etc….are there, but the “tax collector” has definitely been taking his cut. The current was a little weak this week, but who knows what the weekend will bring. The night fishing has been pretty good, and the Sharks have been much less bothersome. Just a suggestion if that works for you.
Well, that is it for this week! Remember, if you need a charter please feel free to stop by World Wide Sportsman’s Bayside Marina and check us out, as I will be glad to help you out with whatever you need.
